The Gibson GA-5 "Les Paul Junior" is a compact 5-watt, all-tube combo amplifier built in Kalamazoo, Michigan during the mid-1950s. Designed as the companion amp to the Les Paul Junior guitar, the GA-5 shares the same straightforward ethos — pure tone through simplicity. Its single volume control, dual instrument inputs, and class-A single-ended 6V6 circuit deliver the warm, harmonically rich overdrive that has earned this little amp its reputation as Gibson's answer to the Fender Champ.
This example is an original early production GA-5, circa 1955, identifiable by its "Les Paul Junior" faceplate script, lacquered tweed covering, and brown/purple woven grille cloth. It remains in great condition for its age, showing honest wear to the cabinet and hardware but retaining all major original components including transformers, Jensen Alnico 8" speaker, and control panel. The amp is fully functional and produces the rich, dynamic tone these models are celebrated for.
