Gibson BR-1 Ultratone Lap Steel Classic White 1948-1949 w/OHSC
Vintage Gibson BR1 Ultratone Lap Steel in Classic White finish made in 1948-1949 with Original Hard Shell Case. This guitar features a solid maple body, maple neck and Plexi fingerboard with a Gibson painted plexi flip up cover headstock. Equipped with a single Gibson Pre-P90 single coil in the bridge position and controlled by 1 volume, 2 tone pots comprised of it's original IRC pots and Solar paper in oil capacitors which ended production in 1949. The 22.50" scale length neck has gold/ salmon dot inlays and 29 nickel (fret markers) on a flat radius with a flat profile. The hardware is comprised of nickel Kluson open gear tuning machines with salmon square heads, an aluminum nut, a Gibson aluminum stop tail with painted lucite flip up cover and gold speed knobs.
This Guitar has no serial that could be found from the factory, the Specs, pot models and capacitors all match to 1948-1949.
This guitar is in overall very good condition with visible signs of age and play. It has visible finish check throughout the instrument, some finish chipping mostly around the edges, a small hair line split at the edge end of the Lucite fingerboard at the mounting screw and a set of small holes drilled into the headstock face under the cover. The original cases bottom front seem is split open on one side from age. (See Pics)
Guitar is freshly setup and restrung with 13-55 strings. Includes Original Hard Shell Case.
