Vintage Guild Starfire II in Sunburst finish made in 1967 with Hard Shell Case. This guitar features a hollow double bound lamminated figured maple back & sides body with a laminated figured maple top, mahogany neck and bound Rosewood fingerboard. Equipped with a pair of original Guild Humbuckers in the neck and bridge position. Controlled by 2 volume, 2 tone pots and a 3-Way toggle switch comprised of CTS pots dating the 44th week of 1967. The 24.75" scale length neck has mother of pearl dot inlays and black side markers with 22 vintage frets on a 12" radius with a medium "C" profile. The hardware is upgraded with a set of chrome Schaller Sealed Die-Cast tuning machines with cloche heads, a bone nut, a Guild Rosewood Base with Adjustable Saddles bridge and added a vintage Bigsby Vibrato Tail Piece and 3 original Guild top hat knobs with one aftermarket.
This guitar is in overall good condition. The pickguard was removed at some point and a vintage Bigsby tailpiece added as well converting this to the Starfire III specs, along with a set of more modern schaller tuners. The pickup routes look to have been slightly modified at some point to possibly fit another set but the pickups but they are the correct guild model pickups and the pots appear undisturbed with correct date codes. The headstocks side seam had a separation between the main section and outer ply and it has been reglued but visible. It has finish wear, scratches, a few finish chips along with several dings and dents. The pickup rings are shrunken and slightly deformed with some splitting. The headstock veneer has shrunk some over the years. The case is worn through on the bottoms upper edge.(See Pics)
