Vintage Gibson Custom Shop Explorer in Purple Burst finish made in 1984 with Hard Shell Case. This guitar features a solid mahogany body, mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard. Equipped with its original set of Gibson Dirty Fingers humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions. Controlled by 2 volume pots, 1 tone pot and a 3-way toggle switch comprised of its original CTS pots dating to the 34th week of 1984. The 24.75" scale length neck has pearloid dot inlays and white side markers with 22 medium jumbo frets on a 12" radius with a slim taper profile. The hardware is comprised of gold Grover Mini-Rotomatic tuning machines with mini kidney bean heads, a bone nut, a Kahler-made Gibson Super-Tune Vibrola bridge and black speed knobs.
This guitar is in overall good condition. There is finish checking, light surface marks and small dings/dents throughout. At some point in its life, the bridge, frets, nut and strap buttons were changed. The clear coat has aged the purple into a more red-like color except for a patch near the pickups and a faint spot below the bridge where a crimson ghost decal was applied. The truss rod cover was modified for the installation of the new bridge. Much of the gold plating on the hardware is worn. The back of the body has some belt rash. The neck has some clear coat chipping along the sides from the refret. The output jack plate is missing a screw. (See Pics)
Guitar is freshly setup and restrung with 10-46 strings. Includes Hard Shell Case.
