This is the Holy Grail of Mesa amplifiers and is one of very few documented factory original Mesa Mark II C++ amps!
Original 1984 Mesa Boogie Mark II C++ Head. DRG Simul-Class which runs 75 Watts when in Class AB (all tubes) and 25 Watts when in Class A mode. The original circuit has all original transformers which are the Schumacher "Simul Class" SC1520 output transformer, Schumacher "105-162318" power transformer, and Reverb transformer 185225. All controls, pull-pot functions, and graphic EQ function as they should and work great.
The black sharpie marks on the chassis indicate the build date of 11/84 as well as the 12AX7 tubes and "MB" initials again by Mike Bendinelli. The sharpie on the side of the chassis indicates DRG Simul-Class. All outputs, FX loop, and controls work as they should.
The black sharpie "+" on the rear of the amp indicates this is a factory original Mark IIC+ and the initials "MB" beneath show that Mike Bendinelli performed final testing. The additional "+" sharpie which you will see on the back of modded C+ to C++ amps was only used when C+ amps were sent to mesa for the ++ mod. These earliest original C++ amps did not have the additional "+" from the factory because it was not a option at the time.
This is a factory C++ head which has been confirmed by Mike Bendinelli who also did a re-cap (see email screenshot in photos). The C++ heads were a factory option originally only offered to artists but unfortunately Mesa does not have record of who this amp was built for originally. There is a name on the chassis that we are unable to make out and could be a clue to its original origins or it could be additional markings from the factory you can (see photo number 14).
This amplifier is in excellent condition although it does have a replacement shell case.

More on the history of the Mesa Mark II C++:
At the request of Vivian Campbell and later Kirk Hammett, along with other noteworthy artists of the day who eventually heard them, MESA/Boogie made some modifications to a few production Mark IIC+ amps to achieve more gain in the overdrive mode and attain a thicker, heavier gain sound. These "++" designated IICs were done for the select few artists who requested them in the twilight of the C+ lifecycle and were never officially offered as a production model. The veil of time has made the exact number unclear; however, it is believed perhaps 20 or so of these mythical IIC++s were created during the original mid-eighties IIC+ lifecycle.
In the years that followed, some owners, hearing tales of the blistering tone and who were into heavy sounds, sent their C+'s to Tech Guru and Keeper of the Archives here, Mike Bendinelli, to have the "++ Mod" performed outside of production time at considerable cost.
The factory Mark IIC++ modification was only performed on approximately 20 amplifiers by Mesa/Boogie. The following guitarists were among the select few who received one of these coveted amps:
* James Hetfield (Metallica): Primarily used the Mark IIC++ for his rhythm guitar tones, which are known for their percussive tightness and aggressive crunch.
* Kirk Hammett (Metallica): Also utilized the Mark IIC++ for his lead and rhythm parts, relying on it to shape the defining sound of early Metallica.
* Vivian Campbell (Dio, Whitesnake, Def Leppard): Mesa/Boogie made the first IIC++ mod at Campbell's request, adding more gain and a thicker, heavier overdrive
